Personal

Born Erica Weisz in Vienna, Austria in March 1937, her family fled Nazi occupation in 1939, settling in Trinidad BWI. After emigrating to the US in 1947, she attended public schools in New York City and Passaic NJ, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Brandeis University in 1958. She married Jay Ball the same year, and became a proud US citizen in 1961. Their three sons are David, 50, an Air Force Major currently deployed overseas, Jonathan (b. 1962, d. 1967) and Alan, 45, an actor. Their grandchildren are Elizabeth, 20, and Ashton, 17, both students.
